Steve Stein, President of the MCC Boosters, stated, “I would like to thank the long-time supporters, especially the Dream Team and Banner Club members, whose donations have created the foundation of this group. The support provided to the college through the MCC Boosters has become a vital part of the MCC sports experience for the athletes and the community.”
Donations received prior to the publication deadline of the sports media guides will be listed in the programs. The Fall Semester at McCook Community College is quickly approaching, and the MCC Indians Boosters Club is actively recruiting families to participate in the Adopt-an-Athlete Program. This program, now in its sixth year, provides an opportunity for your family to meet some of the MCC student/athletes and give them some “family” time as a break from their college routine.
The Adopt-an-Athlete Program matches up athletes from the college’s six different sports with local families. The program has been a great success both for the athletes and for the participating families. Women’s Basketball Coach Benjamin Smith states, “I have heard only great things from the athletes about being an adopted athlete. The program is very helpful to our student/athletes, and I stress it to recruits and their parents as one program MCC offers to help them assimilate into a college atmosphere in a town possibly far from home. I really want to express the appreciation of all of the MCC coaches to the families for taking part in this great program.”
Families are asked only to have their athletes over to their homes once or twice a month for dinner. Other NJCAA rules do apply toward this program and are explained in detail to ensure a successful experience for the student/athletes and their adoptive families. For more information on the Adopt-an-Athlete Program, contact Sherri Stang, McCook National Bank, (308) 345-4240 or Sherri@mnb1.com or Rebecca Vosburg, Wells Fargo Bank, (308) 345-4823 or Rebecca.J.Vosburg@wellsfargo.com.
The MCC Indians Boosters, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed in 1996 to support the growth and prosperity of McCook Community College through its sports programs.
